JETS MEN FINISH OFF PERFECT SEASON WITH MLWP WIN

The Toronto Golden Jets senior men's team capped off a perfect season (14-0) by winning the national MLWP league championship in Montreal.  The Jets had finished the regular season 12-0, good for 1st place in the Ontario Division and a place in the league semi-finals against Calgary.  In the game, Calgary jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but the Jets bounced back to go up 3-2 by the end of the first quarter.  The Jets stretched the lead by one in the 2nd quarter to lead 5-3 at the half.  Calgary won the 3rd quarter to close to 7-6 but the Jets pulled into a 9-6 4th quarter lead before giving up 2 late goals for the 9-8 win.  The team showed incredible balance as coach George Gross, Jr. ran two complete lines throughout the game and 8 different Jets hit the scoresheet.  Yu Ogawa had two goals and single tallies went to Alan Chung, Hrvoje Vukic, captain Som Seif, Tuna Tali, Vlad Andreyev, Mike Chapman and Tomas Kopenec.

The championship game featured the Golden Jets against the host Montreal CAMO Roadrunners.  The first quarter saw the Jets get out to an early 2-0 lead only to be tied up midway through but then end the first leading 4-3.  The Jets scored the only goal of the 2nd quarter to lead 5-3 at the half.  Montreal won the third quarter to close to within one goal at 6-5.  The 4th quarter was a wild one as the Jets quickly extended the lead to 8-5, Montreal closed it back to 8-7, then 9-8 before the Jets scored on a power play to go up 10-8 before Montreal scored on a power play to make the final score 10-9 for the Jets.

Vlad Andreyev led the team with 3 goals, Tomas Kopenec notched 2 goals with singles going to Matt Hart, Alan Chung, Fabian Wanrooij, Yu Ogawa and Milos Radojcic as the Jets again demonstrated a balanced attack.

This was the first MLWP banner won by the Golden Jets.
