TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games - OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER

TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games

The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/ Games will be the largest international multi-sport Games ever held in Canada, with a geographical footprint stretching from Welland to Oshawa to Minden Hills, Ontario. Peter Lohasz, a Golden Jets alumnus, is volunteering with TO2015, the Games Organizing Committee, to help identify specialized field-of-play volunteers in water polo and wants to know if you would like to become a Games-time volunteer.

Athletes from countries across the Americas and Caribbean will be training and competing in the Pan Am Games in water polo between July 7 and 15, 2015.

If you have extensive knowledge and experience in water polo, a passion for the sport and you’re interested in volunteering as a minor official in water polo at TORONTO 2015 or for more information, contact the Supervisor of Technical Officials, Peter Lohasz at plohasz@gmail.com by May 31, 2014.

Volunteer requirements  Time commitment: TO2015 wants to ensure a great experience for athletes, spectators and officials, so volunteering does come with a required time commitment. In general, this will mean 8 shifts (4 – 6 h each) over 9 days (July 7-15, 2015).

Language requirements  All volunteers are required to have a basic working knowledge of English. To support our athletes and visitors, we are also looking for volunteers who speak French, Spanish, Portuguese and other selected languages.

Age requirements   The volunteer program is open to individuals 16 years or older, as of January 1, 2015. Volunteers under 18 years of age will require permission from their parent or guardian to participate.

Training   Volunteers will be expected to attend up to four training sessions to ensure they are fully prepared to perform their Games-time role. Volunteers will also be expected to attend a test event either in December 2014 or January 2015 (TBD soon).

Volunteers will receive

       A comprehensive training program.
An opportunity to receive volunteer certification.
An official Pan Am Am Games uniform.
Refreshments and meals based on shift duration.
Free access to public transportation during the Games.
Invitations to special volunteer recognition events.

Please note that volunteer expenses, travel and accommodation are not covered. You will be responsible for your own transportation to the venues. Full details on the volunteer program will be available beginning April 7, 2014.
