JETS U19 BOYS CLIMB INTO SECOND PLACE
A
day after sweeping games from two Ottawa teams, the Golden Jets U19
boys team split a pair of games with Montreal teams. In the first match
of the day against DDO Black, the Jets jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the
first quarter but did not score in the second quarter, leading 5-2 at
the half. A stunning 6-0 third quarter salted the game away as the Jets
went on to win 15-7. Blake Carnevale netted 5 goals. A trio of Jets
potted two goals apiece: Euan Scoffield, Alex Bozzo and David Rapoport.
Single tallies went to William Qiu, Stefan Vukovic, Stefan Mitic and
Zach Ginsberg.
In
the second game of the day, the Jets were up against the undefeated
CAMO squad. The Jets opened well only trailing 2-1 at the end of the
first quarter. The Jets tied it at 4-4 in the middle of the second
quarter but then gave up three unanswered goals to trail 7-4 at the
half. That differential remained the same at the end of the third
quarter before the Jets finally succumbed 17-12. Scoffield led the way
with a hat trick. Rapoport, Carnevale and Bozzo each scored twice while
Matija Babic, Vukovic and Mitic had one each.
With the win over DDO Black, the Jets vaulted into second place in the Eastern Conference standings of the NCL.
