SR. MEN WIN BRONZE MEDAL AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Golden Jets Senior Men went to Montreal at the end of March to play in Canada's National Championships.  Unable to travel were starters Simon Porter and Tuna Tali.  However, the Jets received help from Ontario-based national team training center players Alec Taschereau, Rony Grosz and Milan Radenovic.  The first game was against MLWP champions DDO.  The Jets again displayed tremendous defence led by goalie Andrew Chorniy and were tied 2-2 at the half and 6-6 with less than a minute to go in the 3rd quarter before finally losing 9-7.  Alan Chung and Taschereau (game's 2nd star) each had 2 goals.  Then it was a resounding 13-3 win over the Calgary Torpedoes.  Taschereau led the way with 4 goals and Chung (1st star), Grosz and Brook Ruffo (2nd star) each scored twice.  The final round robin game was against Laval and the Jets again dominated 19-7.  Grosz (2nd star) had 5 goals, Yu Ogawa had 4, Jamie Earle (1st star) and Taschereau both had hat tricks.
So, it was off to the semi-finals against the powerhouse Bowness Monster, a team laden with ex-National Team players.  However, the Jets were not intimidated and, despite having to play short a man for 4 minutes when Grosz received a very questionnable match penalty, forced the game into overtime before finally losing.  Taschereau (2nd star) had a pair of goals.
The final day was the bronze medal game against host CAMO (Montreal).  The Jets did not let the disappointment of the near miss into the gold medal game from the day before get to them and won the bronze medal 10-9 leading 10-6 with less than 4 minutes to go.  Taschereau (1st star) had 3 goals while Chung (3rd star) and Julian Filice each had two.
Chung and Taschereau made the tournament all-star team.
