JETS 19U BOYS NOTCH FIRST WIN OF NCL SEASON
The Golden Jets 19U boys team, by far the youngest team in the league, had taken its lumps throughout the first third of the NCL season. However, when the top-ranked Ottawa Titans came to town, the Jets were waiting with three older reinforcements. The result was a convincing 15-10 upset win as the three freshman UofT players played major roles. Sukhmun Hare and Sever Topan each scored 6 goals while goalie Emirhan Ozdemir provided a strong backbone. Marko Avdalovic added a pair and Matija Babic one to round out the Jets scoring.
In the rematch, center forward Marko Avdalovic was unable to play when he arrived after the start of the game. League rules prevent players from suiting up after the opening whistle. Nonetheless, the Jets fought back from a large deficit to tie the game 15-15 in the 4th quarter but fell by a goal on a late penalty shot. Hare and Topan each scored 4 times as did David Rapoport. Babic and Saif Nile each had one.
