JETS U19 BOYS SWEEP PAIR OF SUNDAY GAMES
The
Golden Jets U19 boys capped off an extremely successful weekend of
national league play at the Markham Pan Am Center with two convincing
wins on Sunday.
In
the morning, the Jets were tied 3-3 with DDO White late in the first
quarter when the team exploded for three goals in a minute and a half to
take a 6-3 lead into the second quarter. Four more goals to start the
second made it a seven goal run and the Jets extended the lead to 12-5
at the half and then coasted to a 21-12 victory.
David
Rapoport was on fire scoring seven goals to lead the Jets attack. Euan
Scoffield notched a hat trick while Luka Pejanovic, Stefan Vukovic and
Matija Babic each tallied twice. Single goals were scored by William
Qiu, Zach Ginsberg, Alex Bozzo, Marko Avdalovic and Stefan Mitic.
Later
in the afternoon, the Jets had a rematch with the Ottawa Titans whom
the Jets had defeated 16-7 to open the weekend. It was a close game at
the end of the first quarter as the Jets led 4-3. However, the Jets
gradually pulled away to 9-4 half time and 16-8 three quarters time
leads before winning 18-10.
Rapoport
and Blake Carnevale each scored four times. Scoffield, Bozzo,
Avdalovic and Vukovic had two markers apiece while Viktor Brancus and
Mitic added one each.
The
win gave the Jets a 5-1 record for the weekend and a solid hold on
second place in the Eastern Conference of the NCL. The Jets are off
until well into the New Year when the team will travel to B.C. to play
each of the six Western Conference teams.
