JETS MEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!
The Toronto Golden Jets senior men's team traveled to Montreal on the weekend and successfully defended its MLWP and National Championship titles with a pair of dominating performances.
The Jets entered the playoffs as the number one seed and drew Team Saskatchewan as its semi-final opponent on Saturday night.
Team Sask grabbed an early 2-1 lead but four quick unanswered goals propelled the Jets to a 6-1 first quarter lead. The team stretched the lead to 11-3 at the half before finishing up as 14-6 winners.
Sever Topan led the way with 4 goals while the brothers Tali (Tuna and Emre) recorded hat tricks. Vlad Tasevski scored twice with singles going to Milos Radojcic and Sukhmun Hare.
The gold medal final Sunday saw the Golden Jets pitted against the Mavs. The Jets gave up the first goal of the game and then went on a 7-0 run to go up 7-1 by the mid-point of the third quarter led by the lethal outside shooting of Alan Chung. The Jets widened the gap to 10-3 by the end of the third quarter before finishing up 14-4.
Chung led the way with five goals and Tuna Tali had a hat trick. Emre Tali and Hare each scored twice with lone goals counted by Mike Chapman and Paul Spooner.
With the wins, the Jets men concluded their second consecutive undefeated season despite losing 9 of 16 players from last year's perfect season squad.
