MASTERS RECREATION PROGRAM STARTING

The Toronto Golden Jets water polo club is pleased to announce that we are ready to start mens and womens masters programming. Initially, the project will be casual as we get a feel for how many men and women want to take part and see whether there is a growth over this first year.
There will be absolutely no training involved! The hour will consist of warming up, passing, a little shooting, followed by scrimmage. The playing area will be width-wise in the south end of the 50 meter pool at UofT and will only be half of the south end wide (the pool will be split in half for men and women).
The club will supply balls, caps, whistles and nets.
Ultimately, the hope is to end up with at least 40 women and 40 men so that a 4-team league of balanced teams can be created. No experience is necessary - everyone will play against similar ability players.
Then, if things really work out, for those in the league that are interested, the club would create a second night for practice for teams in the 30+, 40+ and 50+ categories to go and play in the U.S. Masters nationals in California each summer.

Golden Jets Women Third

The Golden Jets senior women played four games last weekend at the Olympium pool in Etobicoke as part of the Ontario Water Polo Festival.

On Friday night, the women coasted to a 22-1 victory over the York University Lions with multiple goal performances from Christi Bardecki, Julie Szpara, Jen Johnston, Kerry Mosher-Seif, Karen Gibson, Chloe Potovsky and Emily Bidinosti.

Saturday morning's opponent was the McMaster University Marauders. The Jets leapt out to a 5-1 advantage before giving up two late goals en route to a 7-5 win. Tanya Robinson had a strong game in goal for the Jets.

At the unearthly hour of 7am Sunday, the older Jets climbed out of bed to face the combination Mavericks-Shadow team which had four players show up late and be benched leaving the team with the minimum seven players. The Jets took advantage of the situation and won easily.

The final game was against the Carleton Ravens. Missing a couple of players due to work commitments, the Jets fell behind early by six goals and never recovered.

All in all, the weekend was a huge success for the team and its players who were playing together for the first time this playing season without much training.

The Golden Jets women's team was comprised of those members not attending UofT as those members represented UofT at the same tournament. The UofT Varsity Blues team finished tied for first with Carleton after the two teams played to a hard fought 8-8 tie on Saturday night and won all their other games.
