JETS MEN WIN AGAINST CAMO

The Golden Jets senior men kept their undefeated record intact with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over Montreal's CAMO squad at the University of Toronto pool.  The game was chippy and resulted in two players fouling out and two more players being ejected.  The Jets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but found themselves down 3-2 at the end of the 1st quarter.  The teams went 4-4, 5-5 and finally 6-6 to close out the 2nd quarter of play.  Though the Jets went ahead 9-7 in the middle of the 3rd quarter, CAMO came back to tie.  The 4th quarter saw end-to-end action but no goals until the final 2 minutes when the Jets scored twice including one into an empty net to seal the win.

Fabian Wanrooiy led the way with 5 goals followed by a hat trick from Tomas Kopenec.  Single tallies went to Dushan Lazarevic, Gorast Tasevski, Yu Ogawa and Tuna Tali.

JETS SENIOR WOMEN DEFEAT CAMO

The Toronto Golden Jets senior women defeated CAMO (Montreal) 7-4 in MLWP action at the UofToronto pool. The Jets went ahead 1-0 in the first quarter before CAMO came back to tie things up by half time. The Jets scored the only goal of the 3rd quarter to lead 3-2 entering the 4th and final quarter. In that quarter, the Jets outscored CAMO 4-2 to take the match. Cynthia Sturm led the Golden Jets with a hat trick, Casey Pottier scored twice and Nicole Brown and Sydney MacDougall each notched one goal.

JETS SENIOR MEN REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN MLWP ACTION


The Golden Jets senior men won their 4th game in a row to begin the MLWP season, 11-3 over the Mavs.  The Jets jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead.  The teams then played a 2-2 second quarter.  The Jets men then shut out the Mavs the rest of  the way scoring twice in the 3rd quarter and four times in the final frame.
Tuna Tali led all scorers with 5 goals.  Vlad Andreyev notched a hat trick while Emre Tali, Mike Chapman and Som Seif each added singles.

JETS WOMEN EARN TIE IN SECOND MLWP TILT

The Golden Jets senior women earned a hard-fought 6-6 tie with the Mavs in the team's second game of the MLWP season.
Neither team was able to lead by more than one goal as the game lead changed hands several times.
Emily Bidinosti led the Jets with two goals and Karen Gibson, Cynthia Sturm, Maggie Burlington and Nicole Brown added one each.

CENTRAL TECH RE-OPENS TONIGHT

Central Tech pool is open today.  Therefore, the GREEN group will have practice there as the schedule shows.  Regular programming has been restored there.

JETS TO PLAY DOUBLEHEADER SUNDAY NIGHT (FEB 9) AT UofT

Both the Golden Jets senior women and senior women will take part in a doubleheader Sunday night at UofT.  The women play first at 8:30pm and the men follow at 9:45.  These are official MLWP games.  It will be the second league contest for the women and the fourth for the men.  Entrance is via the doors on Spadina.

JETS MEN WIN SECOND GAME IN A ROW


The Golden Jets senior men won their second game in a row out of the gate with a 21-8 victory over visiting Hammer WC of Hamilton.  After the teams traded goals to start the match, the Jets jumped out to a 7-3 first quarter lead.  Toronto stretched the lead to 11-5 by half and extended it to 16-7 at the end of three quarters.
Fabian Wanrooij led all scorers with 5 goals.  Vlad Andreyev notched 4 goals while Alan Chung and Arash Mokhtari each had a hat trick.  Hrvoje Vukic scored twice with singles going to Matt Hart, Dushan Lazarevic, Tomas Kopenec and Milos Radojcic.

JETS BOYS WIN ANDREW WATSON TOURNAMENT

 For the first time in over 25 years, the Toronto Golden Jets won the Andrew Watson Memorial Tournament in Guelph. The Jets sent a combined U16/U18 team with the majority of players from the U16 group.

The boys played 5 games on the weekend earning convincing wins over Mavericks (22-2) and DDO 'B' (13-6). The Jets also defeated DDO 'A' 5-1. Nail biter contests included a 8-7 win over the combined Guelph-Hamilton-London squad and 7-6 over K-W.

This is a major step forward for the Jets age group boys program which has been developing rapidly over the past three years including silver medals at the last two U14 provincial championships.

JETS MEN WIN CONVINCINGLY IN MLWP OPENER

The Toronto Golden Jets senior men opened the 2014 MLWP season with a convincing 14-1 win over the Mavs.

The Jets jumped out to a 2-0 first quarter lead on goals by Alan Chung and Matt Hart.
The score stood at 3-1 a couple of minutes into the 2nd quarter before the Jets rang up 4 straight goals to lead 7-1 at the half.  With 4 more unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter, the lead was extended to 11-1 before a 3-0 4th quarter closed out the game.

Fabian Wanrooij and Dusan Lazarevic each had a hat trick for the Jets while Matt Hart tallied two goals,  Singles went to Chung, Tuna Tali, Jrvoje Vukic, Tomas Kopenec, Arash Mokhtari and Vlad Andreyev.

Next up for the Jets men is a home-and-home series with Hammer WC, home on Monday night, February 3 at 7:30 and in Hamilton on Friday, February 7 at 8:30.

JETS WOMEN WIN MLWP OPENER

The Toronto Golden Jets senior women's team opened the 2014 MLWP season with a 8-7 win at home over the Mavs.  Four different Jets each scored twice:  Emily Bidinosti, Casey Pottier, Nicole Brown and Sanne Bonekamp. 

After opening the scoring, the Jets found themselves tied at 1 midway through the first quarter before scoring 3 unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead half way through the 2nd quarter.  The lead shrank to a
single goal, 5-4, at the midway mark of the 3rd quarter but the Jets reclaimed its 3 goal advantage to lead 7-4 at the end of the quarter.  The game closed to a single goal with two minutes  to play before the teams exchanged goals.

Next up for the Jets is a rematch at home on Sunday, February 9 at 8pm.
