JETS 16U BOYS FINISH 5th at NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!

The Golden Jets 16U boys team concluded a great run at the 2014 National Championships finishing 5th overall.  Two years ago, the Jets didn't even enter the nationals.  Last year, the team came a
respectable 13th out of 24 teams losing only its first game to the eventual winners, Calgary.  This year, the Jets final game turned out to be against the same Calgary club and the Jets almost pulled off a great upset, losing 6-7 in a hard-fought contest.  Last year, the final score between the teams was 12-1 in Calgary's favour.  The turnaround is nothing short of spectacular!  In the game, the Jets jumped out to a 2-0 first quarter lead and extended it to 3-0 at the half.  Early in the 3rd quarter, the Jets extended the lead to 4-0.  But Calgary began to come back, closing to 2-4, 4-5 and eventually 5-6 heading into the final quarter.  Then, the Jets offence went dry, failed to score a goal and Calgary eked out the win.  David Rapoport led the Jets with a hat trick and was named the game's second star.  Blake Carnevale netted two goals and Stefan Mitic had the other.

JETS DEFEAT LAST YEAR'S SILVER MEDAL WINNERS - GUARANTEE TOP 5 FINISH

The Jets 16U boys stormed out to an early lead against the 2013 silver medal winners from St. Lambert and won 13-6 to guarantee the club a top 5 finish at the 2014 16U Boys National Championships.  Seif Nile was the game's first star scoring 5 times, the second time he achieved the feat.  David Rapoport (second star) and Blake Carnevale each scored twice with singles going to Marko Avdalovic, Stefan Mitic, Matija Babic and William Qiu.  The Jets next face last year's champions from Calgary with a win guaranteeing a medal finish and a loss putting the team fifth.

JETS 16U BOYS BACK ON WINNING TRACK

The Jets 16U boys got back on the winning track with another victory over Edmonton.  Seif Nile scored a hat trick and was named the game's third star.  Blake Carnevale scored twice and was named the first star.  David Rapoport and Matija Babic each scored once.  The Jets need to win their next game against St. Lambert (last year's silver medallist) to keep their medal hopes alive.

JETS LOSE SECOND ROUND MATCH TO FRASER VALLEY

The Golden Jets 16U boys followed up their first round win over Edmonton with a 10-5 loss to B.C.'s Fraser Valley.  The Jets were never in the game, trailing early and never closing the gap.  Stefan Mitic scored twice and was named the game's 3rd star.  Single goals went to Stefan Vukovic, Luke Pejanovic and Matija Babic.  The Jets must now work their way back the long way to try for a medal.
