JETS 16U BOYS WIN PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Toronto Golden Jets captured the Boys 16U Provincial Championship this past weekend at Laurier University in Kitchener-Waterloo.  On Friday night, the Jets  handled Capital Wave from Ottawa 13-6.  Saturday was a gruelling day with 3 games to play.  The Jets won them all beating Hamilton 11-2, Ottawa Titans 8-5 and K-W 15-4.  That set up a rematch with Ottawa on Sunday for the championship and the Jets emerged with a convincing 15-3 victory.  Igor Jovanovic was named the tournament's Most Valuable Goalie and was joined on the tournament All-Star team by Marko Avdalovic and Seif Nile.  The Jets will now prepare hard for the National Championships at the end of May.  Congratulations to all the players and to coaches Predrag Pejanovic and Zoran Petrovic!

JETS CENTRE FORWARD IS MLWP SCORING CHAMPION

Golden Jets centre forward Emily Bidinosti tied for the 2014 MLWP league scoring title.  Bidinosti scored 21 goals in 10 games to win a share of the award.

JETS WOMEN'S GOALIE WINS TOP LEAGUE AWARD

Golden Jets goalie Breanna Gadzosa was named the winner of the 2014 MLWP Top Goalie Award.  It is the second time Gadzosa has won the award and compliments her similar win as part of the University of Toronto championship team in the Fall.

JETS WOMEN FINISH 4TH AT MLWP FINALS



The Golden Jets senior women ended the MLWP season with a pair of close losses to finish 4th.  In the 4-7 semi-final loss, the Jets got single goals from Emily Bidinosti, Paige Neary, Sanne Bonekamp and Nicole Brown.  The game for third against Team Saskatchewan went right down to the wire before the Jets lost 5-6.  Bidinosti had a hat trick to lead the Jets with singles going to Sydney MacDougall and Cynthia Sturm.  The team played very hard throughout the weekend and ended the MLWP season with great promise for the future.

JETS MEN FINISH MLWP REGULAR SEASON UNDEFEATED

The Golden Jets senior men closed out their MLWP regular season with a 13-7 victory at home over the Mavs.  The win gave the Jets men a 12-0 regular season record.  The Jets jumped out to a 4-1 1st quarter lead, doubled it at the half to lead 8-2 and 11-4 after three quarters.  Tuna Tali led the way with 4 goals, Fabian Wanrooij, Gorast Tasevski and Yu Ogawa each netted a pair of goals with singles going to Hrvoje Vukic, Vlad Andreyev and Tomas Kopenec.

JETS MEN WIN AGAIN VS HAMMER WC

The Golden Jets senior men traveled to Hamilton for its penultimate MLWP regular season game and defeated the hosts 25-4.  The Jets jumped out to a 5-0 1st quarter lead, extended it to 13-1 by the half and 20-3 at the end of three quarters.  Fabian Wanrooiy set a Golden Jets MLWP single game scoring record by notching 9 goals.  Gorast Tasevski followed with 6 markers, Hrvoje Vukic, Mike Chapman, Tomas Kopenec and Alan Chung scored twice while Yu Ogawa and Matt Hart tallied once each.  The Jets final regular season game is tonight at UofT at 9:30pm.

JETS WOMEN END REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER HAMMER

The Golden Jets senior women ended their MLWP regular season with a convincing 10-3 win over Hammer WC (Hamilton).  The Jets led 4-2 at the half and then Hammer closed to within one with 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.  The Jets restored the 2 goal lead before the end of the quarter and then ran off 5 unanswered goals in the 4th quarter.  Emily Bidinosti scored her second hat trick of the weekend, Maggie Burlington and Paige Neary each scored twice with singles going to Sydney MacDougall, Casey Pottier and Sanne Bonekamp.  The Jets will now head straight to the MLWP playoff semi-finals in Montreal the weekend of March 22-23.

JETS WOMEN DROP PAIR ON THE ROAD IN MONTREAL

The Golden Jets senior women travelled to Montreal on the weekend and came away with a 1-2 record.  On Saturday, the players drove in the morning, hopped out of the car and played powerful CAMO (Montreal) in their home pool.  The first two quarters were played even at 2-2 and then 4-4.  But the Jets' energy level waned in the second half resulting in a  4-8 loss.
Emily Bidinosti, Paige Neary, Casey Pottier and Nicole Brown each scored once.
Then, a few hours later, the team regrouped to take on DDO (Montreal) and led 2-0 after one quarter and 6-4 at the half.  The teams were tied 6-6 entering the 4th.  The Jets took the lead with 2 minutes to go but could not hang on and dropped a 7-8 decision. Bidinosti had a hat trick, Paige Neary, Sanne Bonekamp, Brittany Sinclair and Nicole Brown each tallied once.

JETS WOMEN CLINCH MLWP ONTARIO DIVISION

The Toronto Golden Jets senior women clinched their 4th Ontario Division title in the past 5 years with a 4-3 victory over Mavericks WPC.  The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first quarter.  The Jets went out in front 2-1 by half time and scored the lone goal of the 3rd quarter to lead 3-1 entering the final period.  A power play goal early in the 4th put the Jets up 4-1 and the team hung on for the win.  Emily Bidinosti, Paige Neary, Casey Pottier and Nicole Brown each scored one goal.  Winning the division title sends the Jets straight into the playoff semi-finals on the weekend of March 22-23.  The Jets now travel to Montreal this weekend to close out the regular season schedule with games against CAMO (Montreal), DDO (Montreal) and Hammer WC (Hamilton).

JETS MEN IMPROVE TO 10-0 WITH WIN OVER HAMMER WC

The Golden Jets senior men improved their MLWP record to 10-0 with a 17-7 win over visiting Hammer WC (Hamilton).  The Jets jumped out to a 5-1 first quarter lead and stretched it to 8-2 at the half.  Fabian Wanrooij led the way with 5 goals, Gorast Tasevski and Tomas Kopenec each had a hat trick, Vlad Tasevski scored twice and Mike Chapman, Tuna Tali, Yu Ogawa and Hrvoje Vukic all had one.  The Jets travel to Hamilton on Tuesday night to complete the back half of the home-and-home series.

JETS MEN CLINCH MLWP ONTARIO DIVISION TITLE

The Toronto Golden Jets senior men's team defeated Mavs 9-8 in MLWP action.  The win assured the Jets of their third consecutive MLWP Ontario Division title and a spot in the league's 4-team playoffs.  The Jets led 2-1 after one quarter, 4-3 at the half and the teams were tied 6-6 entering the final frame.  The Jets popped in two goals in the first three minutes and hung on at the end for the one goal margin of victory.  Yu Ogawa and Fabian Wanrooij each scored twice while singles went to Dusan Lazarevic, Hrvoje Vukic, Gorast Tasevski, Alan Chung and Vlad Andreyev.  The Jets men's next game is tonight at UofT at 7:30pm against Hammer WC.

JETS WOMEN DEFEAT HAMMER WC

The Golden Jets senior women hosted Hammer WC and came away with a 10-5 win.  The Jets were missing starting goaltender Breanna Gadzosa and starter Brittany Sinclair to job commitments as well as starter Sanne Bonekamp.  Nevertheless, the Jets won each of the first two quarters by 3-1 scores to lead 6-2 at the half.   A 2-1 3rd quarter extended the lead to 8-3.  Junior Alina Statsenko was solid in relief of Gadzosa.  Emily Bidinosti, returning from a week off due to illness, led the way for the Jets with 5 goals and Nicole Brown popped in 4.  Cynthia Sturm had the other tally.  The Jets women next play Mavs on Friday night at 7:30 at UofT and then travel to Montreal the next day to play the final three games of the MLWP regular season.

JETS MEN SWEEP MLWP WEEKEND OF PLAY WITH WIN OVER STE. FOY

The Golden Jets senior men swept their 4 games of MLWP weekend action with a 18-6 victory over Ste. Foy (Quebec City).  The game was close in the 1st quarter with the Jets getting out to a 4-2 lead.  The lead got extended to 9-4 at the half and 11-5 by the end of the 3rd quarter.  After trhe teams traded goals to open the 4th quarter, the Jetr ran off 6 straight goals to close out the game.  Dusan Lazarevic led the team with 5 gals, Gorast Tasevski scored 4, Vlad Andreyev notched a hat trick, Fabian Wanrooij netted 2 and Hrvoje Vukic, Yu Ogawa, Alan Chung and Tomas Kopenec had one each.

JETS MEN WIN OVER DDO (MONTREAL)

Missing several players put visiting DDO of Montreal at a substantial disadvantage and the host Golden Jets men took full advantage earning a 21-9 win.  The Jets jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and were ahead 5-2 at the end of the first quarter.  In the second, DDO closed to within one with two quick goals but the Jets rattled off 5 unanswered goals to lead 10-4 at the half.  They extended the lead by one in the 3rd quarter to 15-8.  Tomas Kopenec notched 5 goals, Dusan Lazarevic had 4, Fabian Wanrooij, Tuna Tali, Alan Chung and Alex Hadzi-Manov each scored twice with singles going to Vlad Andreyev, Hrvoje Vukic, Yu Ogawa and Mike Chapman.  The win reduced the Jets' magic number to three to clinch the Ontario division and an automatic berth in the Finals.

JETS WOMEN DEFEAT DDO (MONTREAL)

The Golden Jets senior women remained undefeated in MLWP league play with a 12-9 victory over Montreal's DDO.  The Jets led 3-1 after the 1st quarter and built a 5-2 lead midway through the second quarter only to see it evaporate as DDO came back to tie things up 5-5 at the half.  The Jets went up 9-7 after 3 quarters and increased the margin of victory by one in the final frame.  Casey Pottier led all scorers with 5 goals, Sydney MacDougall scored a hat trick, Brittany Sinclair netted a pair of goals and Cynthia Sturm and Nicole Brown each notched one.

JETS U14 TEAM HAS GOOD WEEKEND IN OTTAWA

The Golden Jets U14 co-ed team traveled to Ottawa for an invitational round robin tournament and came away with and excellent 4-2 record.  The Jets defeated the host Ottawa Titans 17-7, Gatineau 4-2, Hamilton 14-1 and Mavericks 5-0.  The two losses both came against K-W U14s (2-7) and U16 girls (2-4).  Luka led all scorers with 21 goals, Petar notched 9, Max and Illan 4 each while Lazar and Stevo had 3 each.

JETS U16 BLUE TEAM WINS BRONZE MEDAL

The Golden Jets Blue team won the bronze medal at the recent Hamilton Invitational.  This, coupled with the silver medal won by the jets Gold team made for an outstanding finish for the club.  The Jets Blue team went 3-2 for the weekend.  In the round robin portion, the Jets lost a shootout to the host Hamilton AC 8-9, then lost 4-12 to the eventual champions CAMO (Montreal) before defeating London 6-5 and K-W 8-2 to earn a rematch with the host team.  In a close match all the way through, the Jets emerged with a 7-6 victory.   The scorers:  Stevan Brankovan 12, Luka Pejanovic 8, Victor Brancus 6, Daniel Statsenko 4, Denis Lipman 3 and Peter Kovacevic and Lazar Todorvic one each.

JETS U16 GOLD TEAM WINS SILVER MEDAL IN HAMILTON


 The Golden Jets U16 Gold team made it to the championship game against powerhouse CAMO (Montreal) and won the silver medal at the Hamilton Invitational. The Jets went through the round robi...n portion of the tournament defeating London 10-6, K-W 7-4, Hamilton 14-1 and losing 9-2 to CAMO. In the final, the Jets learned from their earlier encounter against CAMO and put up a respectable 4-7 result. Seif Nile led all Golden Jets scorers with 14 goals, David Rapaport scored and Stefan Mitic each netted 8, Matija Babic had 6, Stefan Vukovic 4, Kosta Grbic 3 an William Qiu 2.


JETS U16 BOYS TEAMS WIN SILVER AND BRONZE


The Golden Jets U16 boys were divided into two teams for the recent Hamilton Invitational and came away with excellent second and third place finishes.  Individual team reports to follow.

JETS WOMEN SCORE VICTORY VERSUS HAMMER WPC

The Toronto Golden Jets senior women continued their undefeated streak with a 11-1 win over Hammer WPC of Hamilton.  The Jets actually trailed 0-1 after the first quarter before grabbing a 4-1 half time lead.  The lead increased to 6-1 before a strong 5-0 4th quarter.  Sydney MacDougall led all scorers with 3 goals and Nicole Brown netted two.  Emily Bidinosti, Tanya Robinson, Cynthia Sturm, Casey Pottier, Sanne Bonekamp and Selene Rego all scored once. 

JETS MEN DEFEAT LAVAL

The Golden Jets senior men won another MLWP match 11-7 over visiting Laval.  The Jets finished a tight first quarter leading 3-2 and then stretched the lead to 7-3 at half.  Vlad Andreyev, Dushan Lazarevic,, Gorast Tasevski and Alan Chung each scored twice with singles tallied by Hrvoje Vukic, Fabian Wanrooij and Milos Radojcic.  Next up for the Jets is DDO (Montreal).
